
(Cincinnati Enquirer, 10/12/21) In a recent opinion article Gil Spencer, a member of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Editorial Board, says he read with great interest the recent guest column headlined “Whitewashing our history sets a dangerous precedent” that was authored by three women (count ‘em, three. Dare I call them a “squad?”) who believe that America is “on the precipice of a long overdue racial reckoning.” A nice thought that. They assert the “events” following the murder of George Floyd sparked “optimism… that healing and racial justice” in America was just around the corner. Ah yes, optimism of the sort expressed after Floyd’s death in places like Portland, Seattle, Baltimore and a dozen other cities where protesters, rioters and looters attacked police officers, burned buildings and caused some $2 billion in property damages.
